Jordan has a rich cultural heritage, and folk dance occupies a significant place in heritage festivals and events such as weddings and holidays. Bedouin folk songs are part of Jordanian folk dance.
Bedouin folk music is one of the most famous forms of traditional music in Jordan. This style of music is considered the basis of authentic Bedouin culture. It is characterized by the use of the oud and the rababa (a single-stringed instrument). Bedouin folk songs often express the Bedouin lifestyle.
One of the important and most famous dances in Jordan is the Jordanian Dabke. Dabke is a group dance in which dancers hold each other's hands and move in a circle, stomping their feet to the rhythm of the music. The dance is performed by men and women and symbolizes unity and strength.
To see the Dabke and listen to traditional Jordanian Bedouin music, it is recommended to visit the Royal Cultural Center in the Jordanian capital, Amman. There are various heritage and cultural performances available there.
