Greece is a country whose folk dances have been immortal since ancient times. It is worth noting that there are more than 4,000 traditional dances in Greece, spread throughout the country. Here are the most important traditional Greek dances.

Sirtaki Dance

It is a very famous dance throughout Greece. It is a dance that appeared recently, especially in the sixties of the twentieth century. The credit for the existence of this dance goes to the famous Greek musician Mikis Theodorakis. This dance is characterized by being danced in a line or circular formation, with the hands placed on the shoulders of the other party.

Hasapiko Dance originated in the Middle Ages, in Constantinople, and then this dance moved to Greece. The dancers dance slowly and then dance faster. Hasapiko is performed in a line or circle formation.

This dance is not only known in Greece, but it is also known in Cyprus. The name of this dance refers to the Greek city of Kalamata. While performing this dance, dancers hold each other's hands.

In conclusion, I can say that Greeks love dancing very much. The proof of this is that there are about 4000 dances spread throughout the country. And I hope you enjoyed reading this wonderful article about traditional Greek dances.
